Summary
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Storage Architect in Allen, TX.
Duties Include:
* Switch Hardware Upgrades: Lead and execute upgrades of Edge and Core Switch hardware (e.g., from 16G to 32G), including planning, zoning, connectivity optimization, and troubleshooting buffer issues
* SAN Migration & Optimization: Manage SAN switch migrations, ISL to ICL migrations, and optimize ISL connectivity layouts as per port group design
* Storage Array Upgrades: Perform upgrades and maintenance on storage arrays (e.g., 3PAR ARFX), ensuring systems run on recommended versions and utilities
* NAS Migration & Management: Oversee migration of NFS/SMB shares (e.g., Qumulo Migration), including pilot migrations, share creation, replication, and coordination with application teams
* Performance Monitoring: Configure and monitor performance metrics for fabric ports, memory, CPU, and flash config size parameters. Implement monitoring solutions and maintain utilization targets (e.g., keep E Port utilization at 50%)
* Tool Evaluation & Integration: Evaluate and implement performance monitoring tools (e.g., Perf Tool POC for Alletra and Nimble), including deployment, configuration, scalability design, alerting, and custom reporting
* Data Center Expansion: Support datahall extensions and readiness, including SAN layout design, connectivity, configuration, and zone configuration
* Firmware & Patch Management: Upgrade switch firmware and apply patches (e.g., Sannav upgrades)
* Incident Management & Workflow Integration: Integrate monitoring solutions with incident management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow), test workflows, and configure alerts
* Capacity Planning: Plan and implement storage capacity additions (e.g., Alletra Installation, Qumulo upgrades) to meet database and application requirements
* Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, migrations, upgrades, and monitoring activities
REQUIREMENTS:
Technical Must-Haves:
* Hands-on experience with SAN and NAS technologies: 3PAR, Qumulo, Alletra, Nimble, StoreOnce
* Switch hardware expertise: Brocade, Cisco, or similar; Edge and Core switch upgrades, zoning, ISL/ICL migration
* Performance monitoring tools: Familiarity with Perf Tool, New Relic, and integration with ServiceNow
* Scripting and automation: For monitoring, reporting, and configuration tasks
* Troubleshooting skills: Buffer issues, connectivity problems, firmware upgrades, and patch management
* Data migration experience: NFS/SMB share migration, pilot migrations, replication, and cutover planning
* Capacity planning and scalability: Design and implement solutions for expanding storage and optimizing utilization
* Incident and workflow management: Integration with platforms like ServiceNow, workflow testing, and alert configuration
* Documentation: Ability to create and maintain technical documentation and project reports
Preferred Experience:
* Leading hardware upgrade projects (Edge/Core switches, storage arrays)
* Managing large-scale migrations (SAN/NAS, ISL to ICL)
* Implementing and integrating performance monitoring solutions
* Supporting data center expansions and new installations
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams (application, SAP, infrastructure)
* Working in environments with legacy hardware and planning for modernization
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
