Responsibilities The Senior Solution Engineer (Aruba Wireless) is a critical technical role responsible for providing expert support in solution design, deployment, and optimization for all changes within the organization's Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) environment. This role serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Aruba wireless standards, Radio Frequency (RF) design, and lifecycle management, offering essential guidance to the Manager of Solution Architecture and the Solution Architect - Network.
Key Responsibilities Solution Design, Build, and Deployment - Review and formally approve Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation and configuration changes developed by Managed Service Providers (MSPs), with a specific focus on Aruba controllers and Access Points (APs).
- Oversee the management and technical leadership of deployment teams during the implementation of new WLAN solutions, maintaining the ability to produce detailed solution designs for complex projects (e.g., high-density or outdoor Wi-Fi).
- Design and implement scalable and functional WLAN infrastructure, ensuring adherence to architectural guidelines and standards.
- Propose and implement improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability of the wireless environment.
- Support the research, planning, and recommendation of necessary Aruba hardware, software, and licensing to meet evolving business requirements.
- Interface with vendors to develop accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs) for required hardware and software.
- Validate and assist in the development of test cases for Unit, Quality Assurance (QA), and System Integration testing to ensure the error-free viability of the Aruba solution in the production environment.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts (BAs) and key power users to develop and oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including managing defect escalation and business impact analysis.
- Define and monitor measurement criteria and metrics to ensure the system/solution is performing adequately; collaborate with Service Delivery Managers to analyze anomalies and resolve root causes.
- Participate in planning initiatives, feasibility studies, cost/benefit analyses, and the development of detailed project work plans and implementation timelines.
- Communicate technical requirements to cross-domain IT stakeholders and translate technical solutions into non-technical terminology for BAs.
- Facilitate necessary interactions between MSPs/third-party vendors and internal service delivery teams to support the transition of changes into production.
Technical Support - Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices for Aruba features and wireless standards (e.g., Wi-Fi 6/7) to support continuous improvement activities focused on cost-effectiveness and quality of service delivery.
- Assist in the selection of tools (e.g., Airwave, Aruba Central) for monitoring, measurement of metrics, and compliance with service levels.
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation detailing the functions and features of wireless services and solutions.
- Provide advanced technical support, engaging users to understand symptoms and identify potential root causes of dissatisfaction (e.g., channel congestion, roaming issues).
Required Qualifications and Skills - In-depth understanding of advanced wireless concepts, including RF design, high-density Wi-Fi planning, QoS, and security protocols like 802.1x and Aruba ClearPass .
- Solid background in WLAN administration and architecture.
- Expertise in core Aruba operating systems and management platforms (e.g., ArubaOS, Aruba Central, ClearPass).
- Strong communication protocols knowledge, including TCP/IP.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate resolution of technical issues through creative solutioning and effective negotiation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to build trust with key stakeholders and gain support for change initiatives.
- Demonstrates proactive behavior, self-management techniques, and adaptability.

- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. 2 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
