POSITION SPECIFICS

The Robert V. Waltemeyer Department of Chemical Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University ( invites applications for professional track (non-tenure-line) teaching faculty positions. The positions will be filled with the Lecturer, Assistant Teaching Professor or Associate Teaching Professor title, depending on the successful candidates' qualifications. Title and length of term will be determined by the education and qualifications of the candidate.

We seek candidates who are deeply committed to undergraduate education and enthusiastic about engaging students in the classroom. Responsibilities include teaching core and elective undergraduate chemical engineering courses, contributing to curriculum development and continuous improvement of instructional methods, and serving as an academic advisor to undergraduate students, as well as participating in departmental service activities. The ideal candidate will also have experience or a strong interest in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and computational tools into chemical engineering pedagogy.

A Ph.D. in chemical engineering is preferred; however, applicants with a Ph.D. in a closely related field will also be considered. Applicants with an M.S. degree will be considered at the rank of Lecturer.

3) Teaching philosophy statement, delineating their pedagogical framework and instructional objectives, with particular emphasis on prior teaching experience and contributions to course development. The statement should detail any innovative or efficient methodologies the candidate has employed or intends to develop, especially those that enhance student learning and engagement. Additionally, candidates should address their strategies for cultivating a stimulating classroom environment that advances the Penn State Values ( and supports learners from all backgrounds. This document should reflect a sustained commitment to excellence in undergraduate education and a dedication to mentoring and inspiring future chemical engineers.
