Senior DevOps Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior DevOps / Cloud Infrastructure Lead to manage and evolve our Azure cloud environment. This role will lead infrastructure, security, networking, and DevOps practices while partnering closely with software engineering to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable platforms.

This is a hands-on senior role, ideal for someone from a small to mid-sized company who is comfortable wearing multiple hats and driving outcomes directly. The position will backfill a departed VP of Infrastructure and serve as the senior technical authority for cloud and DevOps.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and own the Azure cloud infrastructure, including architecture, deployment, and optimization.
• Implement secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environments.
• Lead DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, monitoring, and automation.
• Collaborate with software engineering teams to support application deployments and performance.
• Maintain cloud security posture, including identity and access management, networking, and compliance.
• Manage Azure networking, including VNets, firewalls, gateways, and connectivity.
• Establish and improve operational best practices, standards, and documentation.
• Mentor and lead engineers on cloud and DevOps topics.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and production issues as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, AKS, storage, networking, security).
• Strong background in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and networking.
• Experience designing and securing production cloud environments.
• Proven ability to work in small to medium-sized organizations, wearing multiple hats.
• Experience with CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).
• Strong scripting skills: PowerShell, Python, Bash.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to operate as a senior individual contributor / technical lead.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading or owning cloud infrastructure in growth-stage or SMB environments.
• Familiarity with security-first cloud design and compliance frameworks.
• Experience modernizing existing Azure environments.
