Location: Hybrid Jersey City, NJ
Duration: 12 months
Schedule: Part-time (4 days per week), with potential to transition to full-time

Position Summary

A public-sector engineering organization is seeking a Strategy Data & AI Consultant to support its Engineering Solutions Application Management group. This team provides technology vision, strategy, and consultation to support project delivery, management, and reporting across multiple engineering platforms and initiatives.

The consultant will play a key role in defining and driving the organization s Data Governance and AI strategy as part of a broader digital transformation initiative. This role combines strategic planning, governance, organizational change, and hands-on consulting to enable responsible and scalable adoption of Data and AI capabilities.

Consultant Responsibilities

• Develop a Data Governance Strategy to support enterprise digital transformation initiatives

• Define an AI Strategy covering adoption, governance, and staff upskilling

• Assess organizational data maturity and develop a roadmap to advance data maturity across the enterprise

• Embed Responsible AI principles into strategy, roadmap, and organizational culture to drive innovation and experimentation

• Develop and manage a curation process for AI innovations across the organization

• Design and implement an AI Governance and Risk Assessment framework

• Identify people, processes, and technologies required to design, deploy, and operate AI solutions

• Lead and manage Data Governance initiatives from discovery and planning through delivery and knowledge transfer

• Collaborate closely with technical teams to align Data & AI strategy with enterprise AI initiatives

• Address complex business and technology problems by designing and implementing data-driven solutions that deliver measurable value

• Manage relationships with internal stakeholders to identify efficiency opportunities and ensure return on investment

• Plan and assign project work to ensure timely delivery and optimal resource utilization

• Facilitate working groups to gather requirements and drive change using interviews, workshops, document analysis, and business process modeling

Required Education, Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field (Master s degree strongly preferred)

• 3+ years of experience leading AI strategy and executing enterprise AI initiatives

• 5+ years of experience working in or supporting engineering, design, or construction organizations with strong understanding of industry tools and workflows

• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure AI and data/storage platforms

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat Pro
