Websphere Consultant

Roles and Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, stabilize, test, and optimize enterprise applications and supporting infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.

• Support on-call operations by restoring services, resolving incidents, performing root cause analysis (RCA), and addressing problem tickets.

• Design and develop custom monitoring solutions for WebSphere environments and integrate with enterprise monitoring tools such as Introscope, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, ITCAM, Instana, and Zabbix.

• Lead platform modernization initiatives, including migration to IBM WebSphere Liberty on containers and cloud platforms, and automate recurring operational tasks using CI/CD pipelines and scripting.

• Architect and implement infrastructure solutions with a focus on performance tuning, scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery.

• Plan, install, configure, migrate, and manage WebSphere Application Server environments and web services infrastructure across multiple environments.

• Mentor and guide client teams on infrastructure changes, configuration management, and best practices for platform operations and governance.

Skills and Experience

• Strong, current expertise in IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment (v8.5 and v9), along with IBM HTTP Server and Apache Web Server; prior experience with earlier WebSphere versions is a plus.

• Proven experience deploying, integrating, troubleshooting, and tuning Java/JEE applications and middleware platforms, including:

• IBM Enterprise Content Management (FileNet P8) and IBM C ram Social Program Management

• IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services

• Operating systems and virtualization platforms: AIX, Solaris, Linux (RHEL), and VMware

• WebSphere Services Registry and Repository (WSRR)

• Databases: IBM DB2 and Oracle

• Middleware and integration tools: IBM Forms Server, IBM WebSphere MQ, IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), IBM Worklight Server

• Identity and access management: Tivoli Access Manager and Okta

• ColdFusion application environments
