Senior Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer

We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer to support and maintain enterprise mainframe environments for a long-term contract role. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in z/OS upgrades, system performance tuning, ISV product installation, and 24x7 production support.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute z/OS upgrades, maintenance, IPLs, and system restarts

• Apply IBM PTFs and APARs using SMP/E

• Monitor system performance using RMF, SMF, Omegamon, etc.

• Install, configure, and support ISV products (Broadcom/CA, BMC, IBM, Rocket)

• Support security tools such as RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret

• Tune WLM and system resources for optimal performance

• Maintain PARMLIB and system datasets

• Provide production support and participate in on-call rotation

• Develop automation using REXX and JCL

• Participate in DR testing and business continuity planning

• Collaborate with infrastructure, DBA, and application teams

• Mentor junior staff and maintain documentation

Required Qualifications:

• 15+ years of Mainframe Systems Programming experience

• Strong hands-on with z/OS installation and upgrades

• Expertise in JCL, TSO/ISPF, SMP/E, JES2/JES3

• Experience with CICS, MQ, IMS, DB2, VSAM

• Knowledge of TCP/IP and VTAM

• Performance tuning and capacity planning experience

• Excellent communication skills
