Overview
An established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and deliver high-quality electrical design solutions across a variety of building and infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who enjoys technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams from concept through construction. The position is onsite and plays a key role in shaping design quality, project execution, and team development.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning, design, and execution of electrical systems for complex projects.
Prepare and review construction drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, designers, and external consultants to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within scope.
Provide technical oversight and quality control for electrical designs prior to issuance.
Support project teams independently during both design and construction phases.
Ensure electrical systems comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
Participate in client meetings and contribute technical insight and recommendations.
Maintain and build strong client relationships through regular interaction.
Mentor, train, and support junior and mid-level electrical engineers and designers.
Conduct site surveys, field investigations, and construction administration activities.
Review and verify accuracy of drawings and documentation provided by vendors and consultants.
Assist with proposal development, including technical scopes of work and budget estimates.
Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats.
Required Skills
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering.
Ability to qualify for professional licensure in the state of Tennessee.
Strong proficiency in electrical engineering principles, systems design, and design/build delivery.
Experience producing and reviewing technical calculations, plans, and specifications.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Strong working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, regulations, and construction practices.
Experience coordinating with adjacent disciplines such as plumbing and fire protection engineering.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven ability to mentor and develop engineers and designers.
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality technical deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Licensure in multiple states.
Experience providing technical leadership on highly complex projects.
