- To perform finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate strength, stiffness, fatigue, and durability; partner with design teams to assess manufacturable solutions; and translate analysis results into concise engineering documentation.
What You'll Do
-
- Build and validate 3D structural analysis models to assess static responses of hydraulic components and pressure vessels
- Define load cases, boundary conditions, and material assumptions; perform margin-of-safety assessments
- Execute all FEA activities including model setup, meshing, solution, and post-processing in alignment with client standards
- Translate analysis outcomes into actionable design recommendations and optimization strategies
- Author brief, clear analysis plans, calculation packages, and stress reports with traceable inputs and assumptions
- Participate in design reviews and provide timely, data-driven feedback to design, materials, and manufacturing stakeholders
- Adhere to configuration control, revision management, and quality processes in a consulting environment
Additional Scope by Level

- Execute well-defined analysis tasks under guidance from senior engineers
- Develop proficiency in client toolchains, standards, and documentation practices
- Contribute to model setup, meshing, post-processing, and concise report writing
- Stress Engineer II
- Own analysis workstreams from scoping through delivery with minimal supervision
- Define methods, assumptions, and acceptance criteria; identify risk areas and mitigation plans
- Interface directly with client engineering leadership; present findings and negotiate requirements/solutions
Tools & Technologies
- FEA: ANSYS required; Abaqus, Nastran/Patran, HyperMesh/HyperWorks, or equivalent experience helpful
- CAD familiarity for interface/geometry interrogation: CATIA required; NX, Creo, or SolidWorks experience helpful
- Standards and references as applicable: ASME Y14.5 (GD&T), materials databases; aerospace/automotive/industrial standards relevant to the client's products
- Note: Exact toolset is flexible; ability to adapt to the client's environment is key
Qualifications
