Low Voltage Security Access Control Technician About the RoleWe're seeking a motivated
Low Voltage Security Access Control Technician to help install, configure, and service door access, video, and intrusion systems at customer locations. This entry-level role is ideal for someone with
~6 months of hands-on low-voltage experience (or equivalent practical experience using power tools and basic electrical/cabling skills) who values
integrity, reliability, and professional customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Install, terminate, and label low-voltage cabling (Cat5e/Cat6, coax, control wiring) for access control, video, and intrusion systems.
- Mount, wire, and commission access control panels, card readers, door contacts, request-to-exit (REX) devices, and electric locking hardware.
- Set up and test IP cameras, NVRs/DVRs, and basic video analytics; verify signal paths and device functionality end-to-end.
- Perform basic programming and enrollment of users/credentials; assist with system startups and customer training.
- Troubleshoot cabling, device, and connectivity issues using meters/testers and manufacturer tools; document findings and resolutions.
- Complete service tickets and close-out documentation accurately; maintain truck stock and parts usage records.
- Follow safety procedures and site rules; maintain a clean work area; represent the company with professionalism at customer sites.
Responsibilities aligned to low-voltage security installation work our emails have used (e.g., install/program CCTV/NVRs, access control, testing, troubleshooting, customer interaction, documentation).
Minimum Qualifications- ~6 months of experience in low voltage, cabling, or closely related hands-on work (electrical, telecom, construction, data center) OR equivalent practical experience using power tools, basic wiring, and following safety procedures.
- Familiarity with Cat5e/Cat6 terminations, crimping, cable management, and use of hand/power tools.
- Basic understanding of access control device wiring (door contacts, REX, locks) and IP video components (cameras/NVRs).
- High integrity and reliability: shows up on time, follows instructions, keeps commitments, and treats customers/co-workers with respect.
- Clear, professional communication skills; comfortable working independently and within a team.
- Valid driver's license; ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders.
Preferred (Nice to Have)- Exposure to common access/video platforms (e.g., Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Salient); basic IP addressing concepts (IP, DNS, VPN).
- Ability to read simple schematics and relay logic; experience with fiber or advanced cable testing.
Work Environment & Expectations- Field-based work at commercial customer sites; adhere to all safety and site security requirements.
- Occasional after-hours or weekend work during cutovers or urgent service calls.
- Respectful, customer-centric demeanor; protects customer property and data.
- Maintain tools, PPE, and a professional appearance.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
