Summary

Our client is hiring a Database Administrator Senior on a long-term contract basis.

Work Location: Brooklyn, New York
Work Model: Hybrid

Responsibilities:

Support Oracle OMS and eSRI based GIS Environment & Databases

OMS and GIS related Linux /Windows server requests built to standards
Performance monitoring and optimization of all ArcGIS / ArcFM Environments
Maintaining sync jobs and reporting failures to the Application PoCs
Support Build deployments
Maintain configuration stores
Provide ongoing database maintenance, including optimizing databases for specific applications.
Update database software as required.
SDE compress and rebuild index
Maintaining growth, scalability, tasks and schedules
Data synchronization and replication
Maintenance of current editing workflows and version architecture
Maintain enterprise geospatial data models for Gas and Electric (Versioned and non versioned datasets)
Maintain the Esri ArcGIS Enterprise (10.6.1) and planned migrations

Experienced managing Geographic Information Systems (ArcGis, MapInfo, Oracle Spatial), SAP, Oracle Applications, Oracle Fusion Middleware, MySQL, DB2 and SQL Server.

Installation, configuration, upgrade and management of GIS (ESRI's AcrSDE, ArcFM, ArcIMS applications on Windows and Unix servers.
Created and managed ArcGIS user accounts, instances, services and permissions.
Designed and Managed SDE-Oracle database storage according to vendors recommended best practices. Configured dbtune file for Arcsde.
Designed and deployed disaster recovery plan for SDE servers, and Oracle databases using combinations of RMAN, export/import, Data Pump, Online, and cold backups.
Implemented Oracle Transparent Application Failure (TAF) with failover and load balancing capabilities for SDE-Database.
Scripted and scheduled shell scripts and batch scripts for monitoring SDE on SQL Server and Oracle database
Keep up with latest SDE releases by performing server upgrades, installing patches and service packs when necessary.
Set up SDE multi-user editing database, perform database compress, and re-orgs after editing. Scripted an upload process that refreshes the test SDE, and Oracle database environments to the production environment after versioning.
Installed, updated, and managed FlexLM single user and multi-user license files.
Update spatial metadata view with Dimensional Information about Geometrics
Created Spatial indexes, Parallel Spatial Indexes, Partitioned Spatial Indexes.
Provide support for version activities, and perform database reorgs to improve database performance.
Installation and configuration of Oracle Application server, OC4J and mapview for Oracle Spatial.
Undertook troubleshooting, research and resolution of complex database and application problems by closely monitoring and tuning database performance issues for SQL Server and Oracle databases on Unix and Windows operating systems.
Performed of SDE database/repository for SQL Server and Oracle.
Monitored OS file system, I/O, CPU, SWAP, memory and network utilizations on UNIX and Windows 2000 and ensures efficient use of disk storage, reclaim dead space, optimize space allocation and avoid out-of-space conditions.
Implemented, and maintained Oracle partitioning to distribute file system I/O, data archiving and database performance.
Perform server consolidation of over 5T from Solaris 10 to Linux.
Wrote PL/SQL programs to automate database maintenance activities.
Reviewed the physical model created from the logical model, ensuring the detailed physical design and data structures and databases complies with standards, guidelines, and procedure recommended for all aspects of data modeling, database design, and maintenance.
Assist developers in performing functional, unit and integration testing of applications.
Configure, deploy and management of backup and recovery strategies using RMAN, shell scripts, and Tivoli on

Loading spatial (Points, Lines and Polygons) and non spatial data using inserts, SQL Loader, import & Export, Data Pump, and Transportable Tablespace.
Performed OS file system utilization monitoring, swap usage, CPU utilization, file I/O, and network tracing for Oracle.
Developed, tested and deployed PLSQL programs for database automation activities.
Cloning/Refreshing Of SDE database from one environment to another.
Database security Management, Session management. Performed object level, session, logon and system wide database audits of users to ensure user compliance with corporate security and controls standard, and SOX Act.
Creating and administering database users, roles, privileges and profiles.
Creation and configuration of Hot Standby Database and Data Guard across multiple servers.
Configuration of Oracle Names Server, and SQLNET for client connections to the database server.
Developed, deployed and maintained database backup/recovery environment (Cold and Hot) using RMAN, scripts and third party tools. Respond quickly to refresh data; verify of correct backup strategy; develop recovery procedures; support recovery from loss of data caused by user or system error. Perform application refreshes on request: Refresh data from one environment to another at the request of the application development staff; provide application development staff optimal development environment with current data.
Provided database support to application developers, application support and production users.
Performed Capacity planning and designs requirements for new databases on new/existing systems.
Designed and managed database security and audit procedures
Performed documentation, tracking, analysis, development, and validation of functional requirements and systems design.
Created and managed stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, views, tables, indexes, table partitions, partitioned indexes; synonyms and db_links.
Monitored OS file system, I/O, CPU, Swap, memory and network utilizations.
Manage a combination of small, medium-sized and large-scale projects in a fast-paced environment.
Database Administration in Microsoft SQL Server
Performance monitoring and tuning of OLTP/OLAP database server and databases in MS SQL Server.

Required Qualifications:

3+ years of experience with creating stored procedures in SQL
Advanced SQL development in Oracle SQL Developer
