Role Overview
We are seeking a senior Data & AI Governance Strategy and Implementation Lead to define, operationalize, and execute enterprisewide Data Governance and AI Governance programs for a leading insurance organization.
This role is handson and deliveryfocused. Candidates must have led AI Governance projects in production environments, not just contributed to policy, research, or advisory efforts.
You will operate as a strategist, architect, and execution leader, partnering closely with Legal, Risk, Compliance, Security, and Technology teams to ensure practical, scalable governance frameworks aligned to evolving regulatory expectations.
NonNegotiable Requirements (MustHaves)
AI Governance Project Experience (Required):
- Demonstrated experience leading and delivering AI Governance initiatives, including:
- AI usecase intake, review, and approval workflows
- AI/model/agent inventories and ownership models
- Risk classification and tiering aligned to regulatory standards (e.g., EU AI Act)
- Humanintheloop controls and escalation paths
- Model lifecycle governance (development, deployment, monitoring, change)
- Bias, fairness, explainability, and transparency controls
- Practical alignment to AI governance frameworks and standards, such as:
- EU AI Act
- NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF)
- ISO/IEC 42001

Data Governance Experience (Required)
- Proven success designing, implementing, and scaling enterprise data governance programs.
- Handson experience implementing data governance platforms, such as:
- Collibra
- Informatica IDMC
- Alation
- Microsoft Purview
- Atlan
- Ataccama
- Experience defining and operationalizing:
- Data Governance Operating Models
- Roles, responsibilities, decision rights, and KPIs
- Data stewardship, ownership, and domain models
- Metadata management, lineage, and data quality frameworks
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute enterprise Data and AI Governance strategy aligned to business outcomes and regulatory requirements.
- Lead AI Governance framework design and rollout, including model governance, monitoring, and compliance.
- Evaluate, select, and implement AI governance and model governance tools (e.g., Watsonx.governance, Credo AI, Purview, custom registries).
- Partner with Legal, Risk, Compliance, Security, and Technology teams to embed governance into delivery pipelines.
- Conduct Data & AI Governance maturity assessments, gap analyses, and remediation plans.
- Drive enterprise adoption through change management, communication, and enablement.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive and senior leadership.
Preferred / Plus Qualifications
- Prior experience in Insurance or Financial Services.
- Experience supporting regulatory exams, audits, and supervisory reviews.
- Exposure to MLOps, model registries, or agentic AI implementations as part of governance.
- Strong executivelevel communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Target Profile
- 12+ years of experience across Data Governance, Analytics, Risk, or Technology
- Demonstrated endtoend ownership of governance programs
- Comfortable wearing multiple hats: strategist, architect, program leader, implementer
