Azure SQL DBA - 67076

We have an immediate long-term opportunity with one of our prime clients for a position of Azure SQL DBA to work on Spring, TX on onsite basis.

Pay Rate : $45 - $50/hr

Short version:

An experienced Azure SQL DBA with a proven track record of managing complex database architectures and delivering deep performance optimization. The ideal candidate has hands-on expertise in query plan analysis, performance troubleshooting, locking/blocking minimization, and large-scale database migrations to Azure SQL (PaaS/IaaS). Exposure to other database platforms such as MongoDB is highly desirable.

Detailed version:

Required Skills

10+ years as a SQL Server DBA handling mission-critical workloads.
Strong hands-on experience with Azure SQL (MI/DB).
Expert in query tuning, execution plans, concurrency troubleshooting, and lock optimization.
Proven experience with complex database architectures, distributed environments, and performance engineering.
Strong knowledge of HA/DR, backup/restore strategies, and failover processes.
Proficiency in PowerShell, T-SQL, and Azure administration.
Experience leading enterprise-level database migrations.

Preferred Skills

Exposure to MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
Understanding of hybrid/multi-cloud DB strategies.
Experience with ADF, DMS, Synapse, or Fabric SQL components.

Soft Skills

Excellent problem-solving abilities with a performance-first mindset.
Strong communication skills to work with app teams, architects, and leadership.
Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to database standards and best practices.
