Key Responsibilities
Data Governance & Stewardship
Drive and support enterprise Data Governance initiatives in alignment with banking regulatory and internal compliance standards.
Act as the key point of contact for data-related definitions, ownership, and usage across business and technology teams.
Support governance forums and ensure governance controls are implemented consistently.
Data Dictionary & Metadata Management
Create, maintain, and update data dictionaries for key banking data domains (Customer, Accounts, Transactions, Loans, etc.).
Ensure completeness, accuracy, and traceability of metadata attributes such as definitions, format, lineage references, and business rules.
Business Glossary Management
Define, manage, and govern business glossary terms, ensuring consistency across business units.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to align definitions with banking products, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
Data Lineage (Downstream to Upstream)
Perform data lineage analysis from downstream reports/consumption layers back to upstream source systems.
Document and validate data flow across systems including ingestion, transformation, aggregation, and reporting.
Support impact analysis for changes in data structures, rules, or upstream sources.
Data Controls at Capture
Understand and validate data controls at the point of capture (source systems / intake channels).
Ensure data is captured with required validations, mandatory checks, formats, and governance controls.
Identify gaps in capture controls and recommend corrective actions.
Data Quality Rules & Monitoring
Design and build data quality rules for critical data elements (Completeness, Accuracy, Consistency, Timeliness, Uniqueness, Validity).
Work with data engineers / platform teams to implement DQ checks in pipelines and dashboards.
Analyze DQ issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution with upstream owners.
Required Skills & Experience
7 years of experience in Data Governance / Data Stewardship / Data Management roles.
Strong Banking domain knowledge (Retail Banking, Payments, Cards, Lending, Risk, Compliance, AML, Regulatory reporting).
Hands-on experience with:
o Data Dictionary creation and management
o Business Glossary terms governance
o Data lineage documentation (downstream-to-upstream analysis)
o Data controls at capture and validation checks
o Building data quality rules and frameworks
Strong communication skills with ability to work across business and technical teams.
Ability to translate business requirements into data standards and rules.
