Senior Staff Engineer

A leading global financial services organization is expanding its Commercial Services technology group in Phoenix, AZ. This full-time, direct-hire position is based on their Desert Ridge campus (3 days onsite). The business unit focuses on all B2B and commercial products-an area experiencing rapid growth. They're seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer (Director equivalent) with a strong background in Java, React, and modern cloud technologies (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure) to drive large-scale architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and influence platform-wide innovation.

This is a highly visible role for someone who thrives on technical leadership without people management duties. You'll guide architectural strategy, mentor senior engineers, and champion innovation across distributed systems and enterprise platforms. The ideal candidate brings curiosity, creativity, and deep engineering expertise. Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong experience with Java (or Kotlin), JavaScript, and React.js
• Proven hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure)
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins)
• Background in designing and architecting distributed, cloud-native systems
• Familiarity with both RDBMS and NoSQL (PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Couchbase)
• Excellent communication and mentorship skills

Desired Skills & Experience

• Prior experience leading architecture or modernization initiatives
• Strong understanding of data engineering or AI/analytics integration
• Cloud certification (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
• Experience in large-scale, global enterprise environments
