Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Database Administrator to support critical production systems and enterprise data environments. This role provides advanced SQL Server and Azure SQL administration across database design, development, migration, security, performance optimization, and ongoing operations.
The ideal candidate can work independently, collaborate effectively with technical teams and vendors, and maintain reliable, secure, and efficient database services.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support SQL Server databases and database servers for critical production systems.
- Monitor database health, availability, security, and performance; troubleshoot issues and recommend improvements.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server software and service packs.
- Migrate databases from legacy servers and SQL Server versions to newer environments.
- Deploy, configure, secure, back up, and maintain Azure SQL databases.
- Support migrations from on-premises SQL Server environments to Azure SQL and integrate databases with other Azure services.
- Design and maintain logical and physical data models, schemas, tables, relationships, and data dictionaries.
- Develop data migration processes to extract, cleanse, transform, load, and validate data.
- Deploy database schema changes across test and production environments.
- Support data warehouse, data mart, and Power BI environments in collaboration with the Power BI administration team.
- Coordinate database backup and restore requests with the backup administration team.
- Collaborate with developers, business stakeholders, and vendors to define requirements and recommend database architectures.
- Support software releases, document work status, track risks and issues, and contribute to process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- 7 years of SQL Server database administration experience.
- 4 years of database administration experience supporting production servers.
- 3 years of data analytics experience.
- 1 year of Azure database administration experience.
- 1 year of data warehouse experience.
- Excellent communication and professional customer service skills.
- Ability to manage assigned work with minimal supervision, estimate effort, meet deadlines, and resolve technical issues.
- Ability to collaborate with teams, vendors, and service providers while following established database standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Power BI administration experience — highly desired.
- Business systems analysis and design experience.
- Microsoft SQL Server high availability and Always On experience.
Additional Requirements
- Successful completion of an in-depth background check, including fingerprinting.
- Availability to report onsite for day-one equipment pickup and any required fingerprinting.
- For virtual interviews, candidates must present valid photo identification and complete a 360-degree camera scan of the interview room.
- Assigned equipment must remain within the United States and cannot be taken or used abroad.
- Résumés must clearly document the required skills and relevant experience, focusing on actual responsibilities and project contributions.
