Payroll Integration System Developer

UNIVERSAL Technologies, LLC is seeking an experienced Payroll Integration System Developer to support enterprise HR and payroll applications for a hybrid role in New York, NY. Active LinkedIn preferred. The selected consultant will perform application migration and configuration management activities across mainframe and related environments, develop and review functional specifications, support production migrations, troubleshoot technical issues, and coordinate closely with business owners and technical teams. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, mainframe development environments, configuration management, and software migration processes.

***Project is approximately 8 months long.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor s or Master s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a Technical/Business discipline is required.
• Experience compiling, linking, and binding COBOL programs.
• Proficiency with JCL.
• Experience using TSO/ISPF.
• Experience with Rational ClearQuest and ClearCase.
• Experience working in Configuration Management within a mainframe or midrange computing environment.
• Strong understanding of standard System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
• Knowledge of DB2 and IMS DB/DC.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience with PeopleSoft is a plus.
• Experience with UNIX is a plus.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

• Analyze and document mainframe and HR application migration procedures.
• Develop functional specifications and review them with business owners for approval.
• Review functional specifications with technical staff during the transition into technical design and coding.
• Work with technical job administrators and support personnel to research problems and identify and implement solutions.
• Perform software migrations into required environments in accordance with established procedures and standards.
• Participate in migration planning, review, execution, and quality assurance activities.
• Migrate components including source code, object code, load modules, DBRMs, and copybooks.
• Compile, link, and bind applicable components within the appropriate environments.
• Perform migration activities according to established schedules, plans, procedures, and standards.
• Support Configuration Management processes for software changes moving into staging libraries.
• Stage JCL, PROC, and Control Card coding changes.
• Assign tasks to technical support personnel and communicate requirements to responsible departments.
• Maintain production procedures, including JCL setup and communication with technical support.
• Add new programs to Golden Copies across applicable test environments.
• Support production migrations involving changes to JCL and PROCs.
• Confirm completed migrations through required email reporting and identify the associated release/change number.
