The Senior Business Analyst leads business analysis activities for Agile software delivery teams supporting a large-scale enterprise technology platform. This role partners with business stakeholders, Product Owners, and technical teams to understand business objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational processes, translating them into well-defined functional requirements that enable successful solution delivery.
The Senior Business Analyst develops epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, business process models, workflow diagrams, and supporting documentation while mentoring junior analysts and promoting best practices in business analysis. The role also leverages AI-assisted analysis tools to improve documentation quality, consistency, and delivery efficiency throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the elicitation, analysis, validation, and documentation of complex business and functional requirements.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, Product Owners, and delivery teams to understand business objectives and operational needs.
Translate business and regulatory requirements into epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
Facilitate backlog refinement sessions and support Product Owners in prioritizing work items.
Develop business process models, workflow diagrams, data flows, and supporting business analysis documentation.
Ensure requirements are complete, testable, traceable, and aligned with business objectives.
Partner with architects, developers, QA engineers, and UX teams to clarify requirements and resolve functional questions.
Mentor junior Business Analysts by reviewing requirements artifacts and promoting analysis best practices.
Support user acceptance testing by defining test scenarios, validating business outcomes, and coordinating stakeholder acceptance.
Identify business risks, assumptions, dependencies, and process impacts throughout the project lifecycle.
Maintain requirements traceability from business objectives through delivered functionality.
Utilize AI-assisted business analysis tools to improve requirements development, documentation, process analysis, and productivity.
Communicate analysis findings, recommendations, risks, and decisions effectively to both technical and business stakeholders.
Minimum Experience
7+ years of professional business analysis experience supporting information technology programs.
Experience eliciting, documenting, and validating complex business requirements.
Experience developing user stories, acceptance criteria, and Agile backlog artifacts.
Experience supporting Agile software delivery teams.
Experience collaborating with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Federal government technology project experience.
Financial services or regulatory systems experience.
CBAP, PMI-PBA, or Agile Analysis certification.
Experience mentoring junior Business Analysts.
Experience supporting user acceptance testing and requirements traceability.
Familiarity with AI-assisted business analysis and documentation tools.
Experience working on enterprise digital transformation initiatives.
Experience creating business process models and data flow diagrams.
