Senior Domain Engineer AMIR MDM Lead
Location: Monterey Park, California(Hybrid or Remote also ok)

Job Description
Primary Purpose
Leads development of advanced application features and integrations that optimize performance and scalability. Partners with stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver solutions that align with business objectives and technical standards. Join the AMI Replacement (AMIR) project, a high visibility, multi year effort to modernize SoCalGas advanced metering and meter data management capabilities. This role serves as the Meter Data Management System (MDMS) software lead, providing technical direction for the MDMS workstream and coordinating teams, vendors, and the System Integrator. The position leads integrations, supports legacy system migration, and oversees testing, cutover, stabilization, and operational readiness.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leads technical execution for architecture, requirements, design, configuration, integration, testing, cutover, and stabilization activities.
Responsible to work with the 3rd party vendor and SI to develop a project schedule, define deliverables, deliver quality software, and achieve milestones and objectives.
Leads technical validation of MDMS, SI, and downstream integration workflows to confirm end-to-end solution readiness.
Serves as an escalation point for complex technical issues, leading investigations and permanent solutions.
Conducts research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement, development, and maintenance efforts.
Develops robust backend logic, optimizes front-end performance, and ensures seamless system integrations.
Designs, runs, and monitors software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
Applies appropriate Agile or development methodologies, system development lifecycles, tools, and technology to manage development activities.
Ensures user satisfaction by providing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely resolution of more complex problems.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Required: Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or management information systems preferred.
Experience
Required: Typically requires 8 years of related experience.
Preferred: 5 years of experience leading complex software implementations involving cross-functional teams, external partners, and downstream applications preferred.
Preferred: 3 years of experience managing technical resources.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required: Ability to anticipate downstream impacts of design and implementation decisions.
Required: Ability to communicate technical design decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required: Ability to evaluate tradeoffs among performance, security, usability, and maintainability.
Required: Knowledge of advanced application architectures supporting scalability and maintainability.
Required: Knowledge of testing, deployment, and release practices for production systems.
Required: Skill in designing reusable components and shared services.
Required: Skill in leading complex development features or technical workstreams.
Preferred: Knowledge of database technologies and data integration solutions, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, APIs (REST, SOAP, streaming), and cloud-based development environments such as AWS and DevOps tools.
Preferred: Knowledge of utility operations systems and data platforms, including SAP, Meter Data Management (MDM), Head-End systems, and technologies supporting Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI).
Preferred: Knowledge of data analytics, monitoring, and reporting tools used to evaluate system performance, data quality, operational trends, and exceptions; strong collaboration and negotiation skills are a plus.
