Job Title: Lead PostgreSQL Database Administrator
Job Location: Raleigh, NC
Job Type: Contract
Pay Range: $50.00hr - $55.00hr
Job Overview:
The candidate will lead PostgreSQL database migration and modernization projects, designing and implementing solutions on AWS platforms such as RDS and Aurora. The role involves driving database performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies while providing technical leadership and mentoring to other team members.
Responsibilities:
- Lead PostgreSQL database migration and modernization projects.
- Design and implement PostgreSQL solutions on AWS (RDS/Aurora).
- Drive database performance tuning, HA/DR, backup, and recovery strategies.
- Lead migration planning, execution, cutover, and post-migration support.
- Mentor DBAs and developers and provide technical leadership.
- Collaborate with architects, application teams, and business stakeholders.
Required Skills:
- The candidate should have 10+ years of database experience with 5+ years in PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration, replication, partitioning, and performance tuning.
- Strong AWS experience including RDS PostgreSQL, Aurora PostgreSQL, AWS DMS, and AWS SCT.
- Experience migrating Oracle, DB2, or SQL Server databases to PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of Python or Shell scripting, Terraform, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certifications such as Solutions Architect or Database Specialty.
- Experience in Banking and Financial Services.
- Experience with large-scale cloud migration and modernization programs.
