Position OverviewTEKsystems is seeking motivated, self-directed technicians to join our Network & Cable Decommissioning (NCD) team in support of a large-scale network decommissioning initiative across Hawaii. This role is responsible for the safe retirement, removal, and secure disposal of legacy network infrastructure. Technicians will dismantle outdated equipment, recover cable infrastructure, and process IT assets-including servers, firewalls, switches, and storage devices-across central offices and remote operational sites. This is a cleared role that requires an active Secret security clearance. Also, this position is 100% on-site in Aiea, Hawaii.
About the RoleThe NCD team plays a critical role in reclaiming capacity for customers by removing decommissioned network equipment and cabling infrastructure. This lifecycle-driven approach supports optimal utilization of 10 central offices and facilities. Technicians will collaborate closely with engineers, supply chain personnel, security teams, and operations managers, working across government environments to uphold the highest standards of safety, security, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Perform physical decommissioning of cabling and network infrastructure within Central Office environments
- Manage daily work assignments and priorities using ticketing systems and established workflows
- Provide timely status updates to stakeholders through ticketing tools and bi-weekly PowerPoint briefings
- Coordinate and execute multiple concurrent tasks with strong attention to detail
- Maintain high-quality workmanship and ensure Central Office cleanliness
- Utilize logical tools, documentation systems, and workflow platforms effectively
- Adhere to all production, safety, and quality standards, as well as applicable codes and industry best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify and resolve operational obstacles
- Interpret Central Office build documentation, engineering drawings, and site-specific layout materials
- Scope assigned work, validate decommissioning readiness, create change requests, and ensure timely execution
- Document all activities thoroughly within the ticketing system
- Prepare equipment for disposal, including degaussing and destruction of SSDs and HDDs
- Support hazardous materials handling activities when required
Travel RequirementsThis position may require up to 95% travel outside the primary work area, depending on regional assignment.
Physical RequirementsCandidates must be able to:
- Work at heights using ladders and aerial lifts
- Safely lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Follow strict safety protocols in all environments

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.08 - $45.00/hr.
