job summary:

Randstad is seeking a high-caliber Senior GIS Developer to support a major transportation leader in Washington, D.C. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between ArcGIS Enterprise and critical corporate systems, moving beyond simple map-making to complex systems integration. You will serve as a technical lead, designing and implementing custom applications and middleware solutions that leverage Esri's latest technology stacks-including Experience Builder and Network Analyst-to optimize rail infrastructure data. This is a senior-level position requiring a strategic thinker who can navigate complex SQL Server environments, develop custom APIs, and collaborate directly with stakeholders to translate transportation requirements into sophisticated geospatial tools.

responsibilities:

System Integration: Design, develop, and maintain robust integrations between Esri ArcGIS Enterprise and various corporate applications using Python, JavaScript, and third-party APIs.

Application Development: Build and configure high-performance web applications and custom widgets using ArcGIS Experience Builder and other modern developer frameworks.

Data & Service Management: Perform advanced SQL Server database management, oversee ArcGIS map services, and execute complex geoprocessing and geospatial analysis.

Technical Leadership: Establish and document organizational best practices for GIS solution development, system architecture, and integration workflows.

Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a technical consultant to GIS stakeholders and end-users to gather requirements, troubleshoot system issues, and provide expert recommendations.

qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, GIS, or a related technical field.

Experience: 10+ years of professional software development experience with a heavy focus on the Esri ecosystem and systems integration.

Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Python, JavaScript, and SQL Server; experience with RESTful APIs and middleware implementation is essential.

Geospatial Expertise: Deep knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise, including map compilation, geoprocessing, and spatial data modeling.

Specialized Knowledge: Proficiency with ArcGIS Roads and Highways and/or Network Analyst extensions is highly desirable given the transportation focus.

Soft Skills: Ability to work independently on multiple concurrent projects with excellent verbal and written communication skills for executive-level reporting.
