We are looking for SQL Database Administrator for our client in Ventura, CA

Job Title: SQL Database Administrator

Job Location: Ventura, CA

Job Type: Contract

Job Description:

Pay Range: $70hr - $75hr

The SQL Database Administrator is responsible for designing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing SQL Server environments to support enterprise applications.
This role focuses on database replication, performance tuning, automation, and migration activities while ensuring stable operations across development, testing, and production environments.
The position requires close collaboration with development, QA, and infrastructure teams to support deployments, migrations, and ongoing database operations, particularly within regulated environments.

Requirement/Must Have:

Five or more years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator. Strong expertise in SQL Server Replication.
Advanced knowledge of T-SQL and database performance tuning.
Solid experience with PowerShell scripting.
Hands-on experience with production deployments, release planning, and environment promotion.
Familiarity with database migration or modernization initiatives.

Experience:

Five or more years of professional experience supporting SQL Server database environments.
Experience working in regulated or government sector environments.
Experience supporting development, testing, and production database systems.

Responsibilities:

Design, configure, and maintain SQL Server Replication.
Design, configure, and manage SQL Server scheduled jobs.
Support SQL Server code and database development activities.
Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for database migration, validation, and automation.
Convert and optimize stored procedures, views, triggers, and schemas during database migrations.
Manage code promotion and deployments across multiple environments, including release validation.
Coordinate production release readiness, including permissions and pre-deployment validation.
Monitor and optimize SQL Server performance before and after migrations.
Support issue resolution during post-deployment stabilization.
Ensure data consistency and support defect resolution cycles in collaboration with testing teams.
Work closely with development, QA, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless database operations and transitions.

Should Have:

Experience with legacy database environments.
Exposure to data migration tools and techniques, including linked servers and large object data migration.
Strong understanding of release governance, audit trails, and access control.
Knowledge of SQL Server Agent, backup strategies, and alerting mechanisms.

Skills:

SQL Server administration and replication.
T-SQL development and performance tuning.
PowerShell scripting and automation.
Database migration and optimization.
Release management and deployment support.
Collaboration with cross-functional technical teams.

Qualification And Education:

Relevant technical degree or equivalent professional experience in database administration or related fields.
