Apache Solr Engineer

Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement enterprise search solutions using Fusion and SOLR.
Tune search relevancy and query pipelines to ensure fast and accurate search results.
Create automated processes for bulk and real-time indexing of large datasets from various sources like databases, Hadoop, and flat files into Solr.
Design, create, and manage Solr clusters, including shards and collections.
Identify, research, and resolve complex issues related to Solr, Fusion, and related technologies.
Work with DevOps/SRE/IT teams to troubleshoot logging issues and build observability into CI/CD pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications/ Skills
Search Platform administration experience needed in Apache Solr/Lucidworks Fusion platforms.
Lead Apache Solr administration across non-prod and prod environments.
Operate SolrCloud (ZooKeeper, shards, replicas, leader election).
Perform deep Solr JVM tuning (heap/off-heap, threads, caches).
Resolve search performance issues (CPU, latency, throughput, memory leaks).
Optimize high-volume Solr indexing (commit strategies, merge policies).
Enforce Solr security and HA (TLS, RBAC, audits, zero-downtime upgrades).
Install, configure, and support Lucidworks Fusion (on-prem/cloud).
Manage custom Fusion JARs, patches, and vendor-led upgrades.
Build and tune Fusion ingestion/query pipelines
Troubleshoot Fusion/Spark and connector failures.
Design and run Elasticsearch clusters for PoCs and production.
Tune Elasticsearch mappings, shards, JVM, and query DSL.
Secure Elasticsearch using TLS and role-based access control.
Implement observability and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic).
Execute capacity planning, benchmarking, and RCAs for search platforms.
