About the Role As Cyber Security Principal Architect for CIAM, you will define and govern the end-to-end identity architecture for client authentication, authorization, and governance across Okta , PingFederate/PingAccess , and a suite of security SPAs and APIs . This role requires deep expertise in identity protocols, zero-trust principles, and integration patterns for hybrid environments.
You will serve as the authoritative voice for CIAM architecture , partnering with engineering, product, and risk teams to deliver secure, scalable, and compliant identity solutions aligned with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Architecture & Design - Define CIAM architecture patterns.
- Architect and oversee implementation of CIAM solutions .
Integration & Standards - Drive secure integration patterns for Java APIs , React login UX , and API gateways using OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, and FIDO2/WebAuthn.
- Define zero-trust controls for lateral movement prevention, secure protocol configurations, and runtime session management.
- Ensure CIAM architecture meets regulatory and audit standards; produce design documentation and evidence for risk assessments.
- Lead architecture reviews and sign-offs for identity solutions across ecosystems.
Leadership & Mentorship - Act as a thought leader for identity security; mentor engineers and architects on best practices.
- Represent CIAM in enterprise architecture forums and vendor engagements.
Salary Range:
$137,400 - 233,600 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits.
