Senior Safety Specialist | Onsite | Normal, IL

About the Role

The Senior Safety Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of workers and the general public at a large manufacturing construction site. You will lead safety compliance efforts, conduct inspections, support incident investigations, and serve as the safety liaison with regulatory bodies. This is a high-visibility, hands-on position requiring strong construction safety expertise and the ability to drive corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure site worker and public safety by enforcing compliance with safety standards
Perform daily safety inspections, assessments, and audits
Investigate incidents, document findings, and support corrective action plans
Conduct risk assessments and provide safety improvement recommendations
Develop and deliver safety orientations, kick-off presentations, and pre-shift briefings
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports as needed
Maintain all safety-related documentation
Serve as the primary contact with OSHA, municipalities, insurance carriers, and external regulatory agencies
Support the safe construction of new manufacturing facilities per OSHA 1926 standards

What We re Looking For

5+ years of construction safety experience
Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 Construction Standards
Proven experience conducting inspections, audits, and incident investigations
Ability to drive corrective actions and influence safety improvements
Excellent communication, documentation, and reporting skills
Strong understanding of construction environments and safety risks

Preferred Traits

Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
Comfortable interacting with regulatory agencies and senior stakeholders
Strong work ethic with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, complex site environment
