Job Title: Project Manager
Job location- Pontiac, MI- Hybrid
We are seeking experienced Application Project Managers to plan, manage, deliver, and support IT initiatives for multiple departments and agencies. This role focuses on the implementation and integration of COTS and SaaS vendor solutions, as well as the development and enhancement of internally developed line-of-business applications.
The Project Manager provides hands-on leadership across the full project lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery within scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations. The role requires strong collaboration with technical teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors while applying standard project management methodologies and adapting delivery approaches as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and deliver application-focused IT projects from initiation through implementation and support.
- Provide hands-on project leadership, managing scope, schedule, budget, risks, issues, and quality.
- Apply structured project management methodologies, including Waterfall, Agile, and hybrid approaches, based on project needs.
- Actively manage day-to-day project tasks and deliverables.
- Collaborate closely with 4-8 technical and business team members per project.
- Coordinate and manage vendor relationships, including implementation and integration partners.
Contribute directly to key project deliverables, including:
Business and technical requirements
- Testing strategies and plans
- Implementation and transition documentation
Support and guide initiatives through RFI/RFP processes in collaboration with Purchasing and Legal teams, including:
- Requirements development
- Vendor engagement and communications
- Evaluation and selection support
- Transition from vendor award to project implementation
- Ensure adherence to established technical, security, and governance standards.
- Maintain strong customer relationships with internal departments and stakeholders.
- Communicate project status, risks, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager delivering application or IT initiatives.
- Proven experience managing COTS, SaaS, and internally developed application projects.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, tools, and best practices.
- Experience working with cross-functional technical and business teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage vendors and third-party partners.
- Strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Technical Environment
Projects are delivered using a structured project management methodology that incorporates Waterfall, Agile, and hybrid approaches as appropriate. The role leverages a Microsoft-centric toolset, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint for collaboration and documentation; Clarity PPM for portfolio, schedule, and resource management; and Azure DevOps for tracking work and delivery coordination. The environment includes hybrid cloud and on-premises platforms, vendor-hosted solutions, and integrated systems using APIs and data exchanges.
