Introduction:

The Cloud Solutions Architect will lead cloud computing initiatives for HHSC and direct the architectural strategy across IT and business functions. This role is responsible for designing, engineering, and governing scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud platforms, supporting enterprise modernization and AI-driven initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud application and infrastructure architectures aligned with business goals
• Architect scalable, secure, and resilient cloud environments following best practices
• Assess existing on-prem and cloud infrastructure and define cloud migration strategies
• Plan and execute cloud migrations while ensuring data integrity and system performance
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards
• Implement cloud security controls, encryption, IAM, and compliance frameworks
• Monitor cloud performance and optimize scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions
• Provide architectural guidance and mentorship to IT teams
• Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends
• Drive innovation across cloud platforms and services
• Guide technical and business leaders on AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Generative AI initiatives
• Map AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud services to AI/ML use cases
• Produce reference architectures, runbooks, and training materials

Requirements:

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 18+ years of experience architecting enterprise application solutions across on-prem and cloud environments
• Proven experience architecting solutions on AWS and Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform)
• Strong experience designing cloud-native architectures
• Expertise in IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS service models
• Hands-on experience across AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning using AWS or Google technologies
• Strong understanding of: Virtual networks, VPNs, DNS, load balancers, firewalls
• Cloud security frameworks, encryption, IAM, and compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Programming and scripting experience (Python, Java, C#, scripting languages)
• API architecture and development experience (REST, SOAP)
• Experience with microservices, serverless, and cloud-native application design
• Ability to analyze and optimize cloud costs while maintaining performance
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and business teams
• Experience monitoring and optimizing cloud system performance

Cloud Platform & AI Experience:

• AWS: Bedrock, SageMaker, Redshift, EC2, Data Pipeline, Kinesis, EMR
• AI Services: AWS Transcribe or similar
• Google Cloud: Vertex AI, Agent Builder, and related AI toolsets

Mandatory Certifications:

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Required
• Azure Solutions Architect Expert OR Google Professional Cloud Architect – Required
