Primary Skills and Responsibilities for SRM ViPR Architect:
- Expert at Designing, implementing and Maintaining Dell s Storage Resource Manager (SRM) ViPR Storage Infrastructure Monitoring and Reporting Solution in a Multi-Site Deployment with Federated Reporting back to a central System
o Installation, Configuration and scheduling of SRM Servers, collectors and reports.
o Testing, upgrading and applying patches to the software
o Collection metrics in a multi-vendor environment (IE: Dell/EMC Symmetrix, Isilon, Unity, Netapp NAS Systems, Brocade Switches and IBM SAN)
o Capacity Planning, Performance Management of SRM ecosystem
o Working with other teams and organizations to conform to KP Standards and Security Policies
o Working with other teams for delivery and storage of reports through different delivery mechanisms (SFTP, email etc)
- Knowledgeable in the following storage technologies and configurations:
o Storage Array Networks (SAN)
o Network Attach Storage (NAS)
o Fiberchannel Networks (fabrics)
o Cloud ecosystems
o Linux/Unix, Windows, AIX systems and how they use storage
o Example:
- How to identify and measure SNAP, Shared LUNs/VMDKs,
- Understanding when a LUN is shared between multiple servers
- Understanding of data reduction measurements (deduplication and compression)
- Reporting on Server to LUN mapping using LUN WWN
- Knowledgeable in storage metrics and configurations
o Multi-Tier storage reporting (array level, volume/storage group, lun, fileshare, by protocol ..etc)
- Knowledgeable in designing/generating recurring reports of storage systems to meet specific business needs.
o Investigate and correct operational issues of the SRM ecosystem
- Includes identifying failed or incorrect reports
o Investigate and correct invalid or bad data in reports
- Includes investigating when anomalous data or pattern is report
o Work with cross-functional teams (storage operations, Security, Cloud Operations, Compute teams, and network teams) to implement or trouble
o Open Service Tickets with Dell SRM support to identify and manage to resolution any issues with Dell SRM ViPR product
- Example: Bad metrics being reported, Support for specific firmware levels for devices being monitor.
o Work with consumers/requesters to define Requirements and implement or change reports
o Work with cross-functional team to understand storage metrics
- Primary Working hours Pacific Time. However must be able to occasionally work during non-business hours in order to minimize business impact and comply with KP change management policies
- Flexible to work in Night Shift.
