Salary: $100,000.00 USD Annually - $130,000.00 USD Annually
Description: Overview

We're seeking a highly skilled and driven Senior Controls Engineer to join our dynamic Automation Engineering team. In this role, you'll design, implement, troubleshoot, and optimize control systems for both new and existing in-house production equipment. You'll play a key role in delivering cutting-edge power component solutions for industries including industrial automation, hyperscale computing, AI, aerospace, defense, and automotive.

Key Responsibilities
Robotics Programming & Troubleshooting
  • Program and troubleshoot 6-axis and SCARA robots
  • Experience building robot applications from the ground up
  • Diagnose and resolve robot control issues efficiently
  • Collaborate with Technical Support for product changeovers and training
  • Familiarity with Adept or Mitsubishi robot systems is a plus
Vision Systems Integration
  • Work with Cognex Insight, VisionPro, and VIDI systems
  • Integrate vision-based part location into control systems
  • Develop inspection programs using rule-based logic or AI models


Additional Responsibilities
Electrical & Controls Design
  • Design and test control systems, including schematics, network configurations, and panel layouts
  • Specify components, estimate costs, and oversee panel building and wiring
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, and corporate standards
Project Leadership & Technical Oversight
  • Lead and support cross-functional teams in automation design and optimization
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality for assigned projects
  • Balance immediate operational needs with long-term strategic initiatives
Subject Matter Expertise
  • Provide expert guidance to Manufacturing, Engineering, and Technical Support teams
  • Support automation system design and operation across departments
Network & Communication Systems
  • Troubleshoot equipment-to-network communication issues
  • Install and maintain IP-based code scanners on LAN systems
Technical Support Collaboration
  • Debug electrical control systems down to component level
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, pneumatics, servos, VFDs, relays, HMIs, and automation systems
  • Assist with software logic and program troubleshooting
  • Share knowledge and mentor Technical Support staff
Documentation & Manuals
  • Create electrical schematics, BOMs, user manuals, and network diagrams using CAD tools
  • Communicate clearly with technicians and engineers through well-documented designs
Capital Projects & Equipment Startups
  • Support new equipment integration, including scanner configurations and auto-recipe systems
  • Coordinate with vendors for power and network infrastructure
Technology Research & Continuous Learning
  • Stay current with advancements in sensors, scanners, and vision systems
  • Evaluate supplier products for assembly and automation components
Motion Control Systems
  • Familiarity with various motion controllers and actuators


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing automation
  • Hands-on experience with robot programming, HMI, servo control, PLC troubleshooting, and electrical schematics
  • Vision system experience is a plus
  • Strong communication skills-both written and verbal
  • Proficient in CAD and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and drive projects to completion
