Location: Irvine, CA
Salary: $130,000.00 USD Annually - $140,000.00 USD Annually
Description: Our client is currently seeking a VMware Engineer

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the planning, design, and implementation of infrastructure projects to ensure their successful deployment.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and review with various IT and business groups. Ensure supportability requirements and standards are followed to support the environment.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and provide technical direction to team members.
  • Author documents that improve governance and librarianship with network-related architectures.
  • Develop and implement new standards, processes and procedures for network and system deployment, maintenance, and support, that improve governance and and system-related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and security best practices.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, such as security, development, and IT operations, to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure into the organization's overall technology ecosystem.
  • Perform network-related data backups and disaster recovery operations.
  • Working with field techs and venders to support our infrastructure in 1000 remotes offices across the United States.
  • Monitor and improve performance of the infrastructure by researching, evaluating, and recommending new technology products and services.
  • Research and recommend innovative and where possible automated approaches to configuration and applications that enable the architecture. Identify approaches that leverage existing resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Participate in all phases of development life-cycle environments including development, test, staging and production infrastructure systems, applications, servers, and cloud services.
  • Skilled in determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Manage relationships with vendor support of multiple systems to troubleshoot and investigate the root causes of performance and failure issues.
  • Continuously update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications and white papers.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in MIS or Computer Science or applicable work experience in lieu of degree, +4 years of professional experience is required.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in network/system engineering and deployment, with at least 3 years of experience leading a team of network and system engineers.
  • Experience and support of virtualized Windows servers.
  • Experience with routing, SDWAN, switching, enterprise-wide wireless network support and internet circuits.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex network issues.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Advanced experience with packet capture and analysis, span/mirror port strategy and related network monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of enterprise wireless technologies and security.

Preferred
  • Experience using scripting languages for automation purposes.
  • Experience with Aruba Central
  • Experience with Logic Monitor
  • Experience with VCenter
  • Experience with ESXI
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory and Windows domain environments.
  • Experience with network-oriented enterprise storage solutions (iSCSI, FCoE)
  • AWS Associate level certification.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Strong background in network design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Ability to coach and mentor other team members
  • Ability to look beyond current issues and prepare and plan for long term, end game solutions.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications.
  • Strong skills in communication, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret performance reports and recommend course of action.
  • Ability to monitor systems for anomalies that require investigation and resolution.
  • Advanced knowledge of disk size formatting, cluster sizing, and appropriate applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory and Windows domain environments.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS SQL service configuration and load balancing.
  • Advanced knowledge of share and NTFS permissions.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Linux commands, SSH, and SCP.
  • Understanding of general networking principles pertaining to a large enterprise WAN environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, and work effectively with individuals belonging to all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clarity and brevity.
