OverviewA leading organization undergoing a major cybersecurity compliance initiative is seeking an experienced
Security Consultant to support its path toward
CMMC Level 2 readiness. This role focuses on translating NIST 800-171 and CMMC requirements into practical, technical security controls across applications supporting
Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
You will join a fast-moving program with a firm audit deadline and work closely with security, architecture, and development teams to ensure applications meet DoD-aligned security requirements.
Top Skills & ExperienceRequired- NIST 800-171 expertise (2-3+ years preferred)
- CMMC compliance experience or exposure
- Risk assessments involving mapping NIST/CMMC controls to application security capabilities
- Strong understanding of CUI handling requirements, including:
- Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Logging and monitoring
- Encryption
- Boundary protection
- Vulnerability management
- Technical writing and documentation experience
Nice-to-Have Certifications- CCP (Certified CMMC Professional)
- CCA (Certified CMMC Assessor)
- CISSP
- CISA
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate or M365 Security Administrator Associate
Key Responsibilities- Perform security assessments of applications supporting CUI and high-risk business processes.
- Map applicable CMMC and NIST 800-171 controls to application-level security capabilities.
- Define technical security requirements for systems that create, process, store, or transmit CUI.
- Partner with engineering and architecture teams to implement secure design patterns.
- Support creation of System Security Plans (SSPs), POAMs, and remediation strategies.
- Provide security advisory support during application modernization, cloud initiatives, and system integrations.
- Assist with ongoing readiness for third-party audits by a C3PAO.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
