Boeing South Carolina is seeking passionate and motivated Engineering Co-ops for its Materials and Process Engineering and Industrial Engineering teams.
Materials & Processes Engineering Intern:The Materials & Processes Engineering organization supports material evaluation and process development across many disciplines including: metals, composites, finishes & corrosion prevention, and assembly & automation.
The M&P Engineering intern will:
- Support the implementation of new materials and process across the 787 production system.
- Define requirements, develop and approve tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of products to meet requirements.
- Produce specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes.
- Manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements.
- Conducts analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools, materials, parts or processes.
Industrial Engineering Intern:Boeing South Carolina has an exciting opportunity to work with the Industrial Engineering team supporting the production system that builds the 787 Dreamliner. The Industrial Engineering Co-Op Student statements of work will focus on scheduling & process improvement, along with other tasks on an as-need basis.
Provides scheduling, performance visibility and recovery planning support.
- Develops, implements, maintains, and statuses complex integrated shop operating plans to maximize the efficiency of equipment and personnel and to reduce inventory and meet cost and schedule commitments.
- Develops models, databases and spreadsheets to analyze data and provides summary analysis and metrics for consultation to leaders.
- Analyzes changes to approved plans resulting from unplanned events. Assess the impact of the changes that occur to cost, schedule, resources, and delivery.
- Supports the development of plant and equipment layouts, capacity plans, accident prevention measures, sequencing operations and workflows.
Apply industrial engineering concepts, approaches and techniques to product, process and services to meet program deliverables.
- Assists in the identification and implementation of improvements to processes by analyzing current processes to maximize the efficiency of equipment and personnel and to support company improvement initiatives.
- Gathers and analyzes shop performance metrics in order to support a recommended plan of action for Production Management.
- Assists with research, design, development, improvement, and implementation of processes and tools to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, for large scale systems integration and asset utilization.

Position Responsibilities:- Perform basic engineering tasks related to design, analysis, test, reliability, and production engineering.
- Support one or more senior engineers in performance of engineering tasks and have unique assignments that support engineering team deliverables.
These positions are expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.These positions must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.62 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications:- Enrolled engineering student attending Purdue University with an expected graduation date on or after August 2027.
- Ability to intern 6 months from fall 2026 to spring 2027.
- Currently majoring in a core engineering/applied sciences discipline (Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering (especially Structural emphasis or interest), Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Software Engineering, Structural Engineering, Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering Technical, Industrial Management, Operations Research, Engineering Mechanics, Systems Engineering).
Preferred Qualifications:- Exceptional communication skills and interest and enthusiasm related to engineering, aerospace, and a career with Boeing.
- Candidate should be able to work in a team environment.
- Strong academic performance.
- Exceptional organizational and collaboration skills as demonstrated through leadership positions on teams and/or in student or civic organizations.
- Strong technical experiences as demonstrated through technical projects, research, or engineering internships.
