Role Overview

The AI Specialist designs, develops, and deploys artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions that enhance business processes, improve decision-making, and drive innovation. This role partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to identify use cases, gather requirements, and deliver secure, scalable AI-powered applications. The ideal candidate stays current with emerging AI research and industry trends to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of AI adoption.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, train, validate, and deploy AI/ML models to support enterprise and public safety use cases
• Collaborate with business, technical, and operational teams to identify AI opportunities and define solution requirements
• Perform data preprocessing, feature engineering, model selection, and performance evaluation
• Deploy and operationalize AI solutions in production environments
• Monitor model performance and continuously improve accuracy, scalability, and reliability
• Stay current on advancements in AI/ML research, tools, and industry best practices

Public Safety & Law Enforcement AI Use Cases

• Design and implement solutions that enable law enforcement personnel and authorized users to:
• Query data using natural, everyday language rather than complex SQL or traditional search interfaces
• Demonstrate 2–3+ years of experience with Public Safety systems, including:
• Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD)
• Records Management Systems (RMS)
• Field Reporting Management Systems (FRMS)
• Develop a deep understanding of public safety datasets and their relationships

Data & Search Capabilities

• Implement AI-powered search across current datasets, including:
• People (including aliases)
• Identifiers
• Incidents and offenses
• Design future-state solutions leveraging RMS data for:
• Predictive analytics
• Advanced insights and pattern detection

Cloud, Data Engineering & AI Architecture

• Extract data from on-premises Oracle and SQL Server databases into the AWS Cloud
• Transform, cleanse, and mask sensitive data to meet compliance requirements (CJIS, PII, etc.)
• Store and manage data in formats optimized for AI/ML workloads, including:
• Vector databases (e.g., Pinecone)
• Enable advanced Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) capabilities using AWS Bedrock
• Integrate industry-standard AI models such as:
• Claude
• AWS Titan / Nova
• Ensure the end-to-end AI solution is fully hosted, secured, and scalable within the AWS Cloud
