Pay Rate: $72.00-$85.00/hr ($150K-$175K)
Overview Our client, a leader and growing presence in the robotics and autonomous vehicles space, is seeking a senior-level AI Simulation Engineer to develop simulation-driven AI training and validation systems that accelerate safe, scalable autonomous deployment. This role fuses real-world data, high-fidelity simulation, and AI pipelines to improve robustness, edge-case coverage, and system reliability across research and product environments.
You will collaborate with autonomy, robotics, perception, planning, and controls teams to create closed-loop workflows that continuously enhance model performance using simulated and on-field data.
What You'll Do
- Build closed-loop pipelines connecting real-world telemetry to simulation and AI training
- Develop high-fidelity simulation environments and automated validation pipelines
- Generate synthetic scenarios, long-tail events, and edge cases to strengthen AI robustness
- Integrate perception, planning, control, and vehicle dynamics models into simulation platforms
- Create tools to measure safety margins, regression trends, and performance metrics
- Optimize simulation infrastructure across local, cloud, and GPU-accelerated compute
- Continuously refine simulation workflows to improve realism and development velocity
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure simulation reflects real operational behavior
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics, or related field
- 5+ years in simulation, robotics, or AI engineering
- 2+ years hands-on AI/ML experience
- Strong proficiency in Python (C++ a plus)
- Experience with simulation environments, synthetic data, and scenario generation
- Familiarity with perception, planning, control, or vehicle dynamics systems
- Experience with cloud, distributed, and GPU-based compute environments
- Strong analytical, debugging, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Bonus Skills/Experience
- Generative modeling, data augmentation, or synthetic data pipelines
- Autonomous vehicle, robotics, or heavy equipment domain experience
- CI/CD and automated testing for simulation pipelines
