Job SummaryJob DescriptionThe Director IT Infrastructure Engineering leads the design, build, and evolution of Medline's core infrastructure platforms and engineering tool chain. The role spans End User Compute Engineering, Core Networking, Server Engineering, Azure Cloud Engineering, and Database Services. Focused on delivering secure, scalable, reliable, and cost?efficient capabilities for application teams and Infrastructure Operations.
The Infrastructure Engineering leader has a product mindset, makes data-driven decisions, champions and evangelizes Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration Management, and embeds observability to drive and measure Service Level Agreements and Service Level Objectives for enterprise applications and platforms.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES- Define the infrastructure engineering strategy and operating model across EUC, Core Networking, Servers, Azure Cloud, and Database Services; set quarterly outcomes and build a high?performing leadership bench.
- Own infrastructure engineering standards and reference architectures for compute, storage, virtualization/containers, identity, and platform security; deliver consumable platform capabilities and coordinate run handoffs with Operations.
- End User Compute Engineering: Standardize endpoint platforms (Windows/macOS), image management, MDM/Intune, device compliance, collaboration foundations; automate builds, patching, and drift management.
- Core Networking (data center, cloud & load balancers): lead datacenter, distribution center, and cloud networking, SD?WAN, L4-L7 services; drive automation, configuration compliance, segmentation, capacity planning, and resilient change patterns.
- Server Engineering: Provisioning standardization and automation, including OS builds/patching (Windows/Linux), virtualization (e.g., vSphere), configuration management, golden images, and security hardening.
- Cloud Engineering (Azure): Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) strategy and standardization, including Azure landing zones, network/identity patterns, policy?as?code, reusable modules, and pipeline?driven changes (Azure DevOps/GitLab); enable self?service blueprints and FinOps guardrails.
- Database Services: provide reliable platforms for enterprise databases (e.g., Oracle/SQL Server/MySQL); automate provisioning, patching, backup & recovery; ensure performance, capacity, and RPO/RTO targets are met.
- Security & Compliance by design: embed identity, secrets management, segmentation, and hardening patterns; ensure pipelines meet ITSDLC standards with Security/GRC.
- Delivery excellence & financials: establish intake/prioritization and release automation; track engineering KPIs; own key tool/platform/cloud budgets and optimize unit economics.
- Stakeholder engagement: serve as primary contact for platform engineering matters; provide clear executive updates on status, risk, and trade?offs.
- Global Scope: Cross?time?zone collaboration; occasional after?hours releases for infrastructure changes; periodic travel to major sites, data centers, and vendor engagements.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities- Hands?on understanding Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and Configuration Management in Cloud and Datacenter environments with Terraform and Ansible or similar technologies.
- Strong operational experience with Azure cloud and data center patterns; strong grounding in Kubernetes/containers, networks, storage, databases, cloud native services, and security.
- Deep understanding of datacenter and cloud networking, load?balancing, routing/segmentation, and configuration compliance automation.
- Leadership of server and database platform engineering (standard builds, patching, backup/recovery, performance).
- Experience transforming systems/platforms for high availability and resilient operations using both in region and multi-region solutions.
- Strong vendor, budget, and stakeholder management; executive?level communication
- Product mindset with data-driven decision making
- Solid understanding of Agile project management practices, with Scaled-Agile (SAFe 6) and Project Increment (PI) Planning preferred.
- Experience with process design, evaluation, and improvement.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve escalated / challenging issues related to systems, projects, and processes.
- Experience directing both onshore and offshore teams.
- Basic understanding of financial and revenue models.
- Strong prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, project management (from conception to completion), and planning skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTSEducation Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field
Certification / LicensureAzure Fundamentals, Azure Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator/App Developer (CKA/CKAD), ITIL v4
Work ExperienceKnowledge / Skills / Abilities- Experience managing million-dollar+ annual budget and forecasting activities over several years
- Experience operating in hybrid cloud environments and driving self?service platform adoption at scale.
- Experience managing cloud native applications in Azure,AWS/Google Cloud Platform, or other major hyperscaler
- Demonstrated application of Site Reliability Engineering practices (SLOs/error budgets, capacity planning, chaos testing) and partnership with Operations for incident and disaster recovery readiness and business continuity.

The anticipated salary range for this position:
$177,000.00 - $266,000.00 Annual
The actual salary will vary based on applicant's location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
