JOB SUMMARY

Medline Industries is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and maintenance of internal platforms and technical solutions that empower software development and operations teams to deliver applications and infrastructure efficiently and reliably. You'll apply DevOps principles to accelerate software delivery, foster cross-functional collaboration, and drive quality through automation and continuous improvement. In this senior-level role, you'll take ownership of strategic initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and manage complex projects from planning through execution. You'll work closely with developers, architects, and operations teams to ensure platforms are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance-while continuously driving innovation and automation across the organization.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

- Architect, design, and implement cloud-native platform solutions using modern infrastructure-as-code and automation platforms

- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and developer self-service platforms.

- Develop abstraction layers and APIs to simplify platform complexity for development teams.

- Implement and manage container orchestration systems (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).

- Ensure platform security, compliance, and data protection through automated controls and monitoring.

- Collaborate with development teams to understand workflow requirements and deliver tailored platform capabilities.

- Develop and maintain comprehensive monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.

- Document platform architectures, processes, and best practices for internal use.

- Evaluate and integrate new technologies to enhance platform capabilities and developer experience.

- Provide technical support and guidance to Platform Operations and stakeholders

- Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for platform-related issues.

- Contribute to platform strategy and roadmap, aligning with organizational goals.

- Mentor and coach junior engineers, providing technical guidance and support for professional development.

- Track team goals, key projects, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

- Assist with project management and coordination of key initiatives.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Certification / Licensure

- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform Professional, CKA, Terraform Associate) preferred but not required.

Work Experience

- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Software Engineering or related fields.

- Experience designing and managing large-scale, enterprise-grade platforms.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

- Strong expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).

- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools.

- Advanced scripting skills (Python, Go, Bash).

- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).

- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and developer platform concepts.

- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks.

- Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.

- Ability to design scalable, reliable, and secure platform architectures.

- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- Strong communication and documentation skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

- Experience mentoring and coaching junior engineers.

- Experience tracking team goals, projects, and supporting project management.

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field

Certification / Licensure

- Advanced certifications in cloud, DevOps, or platform engineering (e.g., AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform Professional, CKA, CKAD).

Work Experience

- 10+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Software Engineering or related fields.

- Experience designing and managing large-scale, enterprise-grade platforms.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

- Experience with AI/ML operations and MLOps platforms.

- Knowledge of service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).

- Expertise in cloud-native security tools and practices.

- Experience with platform engineering frameworks (e.g., Backstage).

- Experience with chaos engineering and resilience testing.

- Proven ability to drive platform innovation and adoption across teams.

- Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical initiatives.

- Demonstrated project management and leadership skills.

The anticipated salary range for this position:

$132,600.00 - $199,160.00 Annual

The actual salary will vary based on applicant's location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
