Position OverviewThe Desktop Support Specialist will provide hands-on support for hardware, workstation deployments, and computer imaging within a Windows environment. This role requires strong troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and the capability to resolve or escalate technical issues efficiently.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnd-User Hardware Support- Provide hardware support for desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, and peripherals.
- Diagnose, repair, replace, and maintain hardware components.
- Perform upgrades, component swaps, and routine maintenance to ensure reliable device performance.
Imaging and Deployment- Image computers using standardized tools and procedures.
- Configure operating systems, install required applications, and apply updates and patches.
- Prepare devices for new hires, refresh cycles, and departmental technology needs.
Workstation Setup- Set up workstations including monitors, docking stations, keyboards, phones, and other peripherals.
- Ensure proper network connectivity, access to printers, and application functionality.
- Assist with technology setup in conference rooms, labs, and shared work areas.
Troubleshooting and Support- Perform installation, configuration, diagnostics, and troubleshooting for Windows systems.
- Resolve issues involving operating systems, applications, wireless devices, and networking equipment.
- Document all details in the ticketing system and escalate issues when appropriate with accurate notes.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on hardware support experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience imaging computers.
- Minimum of 2 years of workstation setup experience.
- Strong understanding of Windows desktop environments (Windows 10/11).
- General troubleshooting abilities across hardware, software, and basic networking.
- Ability to create clear documentation for issue escalation and knowledge sharing.
Nice-to-Have Skills- Experience supporting Windows Server environments.
- Familiarity with IT ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Freshservice, or Jira.
- Experience with remote support tools.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
Soft Skills- Organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Able to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable supporting users of varying technical skill levels.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of New Britain, CT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
