Network Security Engineer

Location: Annapolis, MD (Hybrid)

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to design, implement, and support secure enterprise network environments. This role supports 24x7 network operations and works closely with engineering teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and secure network solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and support secure network and data communications solutions.

• Perform project-based network security engineering, including troubleshooting and optimization.

• Lead or support migrations from legacy to next-generation network security platforms.

• Assist with incident response, threat remediation, and critical issue resolution.

• Support capacity planning, monitoring, documentation, and change management.

• Collaborate with teams and stakeholders; provide status updates and reports.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in IT networking and network security (CONUS).

• Associate's degree in IT or related field.

• Active or recently expired certifications such as:

  • Palo Alto (PCNSE / NGFW)

  • Cisco CCNP (Enterprise or Security)

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Palo Alto NGFW (IDS/IPS, VPN, SSL inspection, DLP)

• Cisco switching, routing, and wireless

• Load balancers (A10), NAC (Cisco ISE), MFA

• Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)

• Cloud networking and security

• PKI, vulnerability tools (Nessus, NMAP), packet analysis (Wireshark)

• Network management tools (Panorama, SolarWinds)
