About the Role
We re transforming how software is built and delivered at scale and we need a visionary product leader to own our Developer Enablement platform. As Director of Developer Enablement, you ll define the strategy, roadmap, and execution for the internal platforms that empower hundreds of engineers to ship faster, safer, and with greater autonomy. This role sits at the heart of our You Build It, You Run It evolution and directly shapes our engineering culture, velocity, and developer experience.
You ll lead a team of 5 10 platform engineers and partner cross-functionally with Infrastructure, Security, and product engineering teams to deliver a unified, self-service foundation from commit to production.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Execution
- Define and drive a 12 18 month product vision and roadmap for Developer Enablement, aligned with enterprise goals and industry best practices (e.g., CNCF, DORA, Internal Developer Platforms).
- Own end-to-end product management for three core domains:
- Developer Experience (DevEx) including IDPs like Backstage, service catalogs, and custom CLIs
- Delivery Enablement CI/CD standardization, pipeline automation, and deployment workflows
- Infrastructure Enablement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), GitOps (Argo CD/Flux), and environment provisioning
- Prioritize backlog, write user stories, and eliminate manual bottlenecks through automation and self-service abstractions.
- Champion golden path adoption while balancing flexibility for engineering teams.
Stakeholder Leadership & Influence
- Serve as the voice of the developer conducting research, synthesizing pain points, and advocating for frictionless workflows.
- Build trusted relationships across Engineering, Security, Compliance, and Business Units.
- Present roadmaps, business cases, and trade-off analyses to executive leadership with clarity and data.
Metrics, Adoption & Operational Excellence
- Define and improve key health metrics: developer satisfaction (DSAT/NPS), deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, and MTTR.
- Drive platform adoption through documentation, onboarding programs, workshops, and community building.
- Ensure platform reliability by meeting SLOs, optimizing costs, and embedding security/compliance guardrails.
People Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of platform engineers.
- Foster a collaborative, outcome-oriented culture rooted in empathy, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required
- 15+ years of product management experience, with deep expertise in platform engineering, DevOps tooling, or developer productivity.
- 5+ years of people management experience leading technical teams.
- Proven track record delivering complex, enterprise-scale internal platforms (CI/CD, IaC, IDPs, observability, etc.).
- Strong hands-on understanding of:
- Kubernetes ecosystems and cloud-native technologies (CNCF projects)
- CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and pipeline automation
- Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi, AWS CDK)
- Developer workflows, pain points, and productivity levers
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical depth for executives and business stakeholders.
- Data-driven decision-making mindset with fluency in DORA and platform health metrics.
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred
- Experience in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, etc.) with compliance (SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.) exposure.
- Familiarity with Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs), Backstage, or similar frameworks.
- Product management certifications (Pragmatic Institute, SAFe, etc.).
