SENIOR INTEGRATION ARCHITECT

Description: Our client is currently seeking an Enterprise/Integration Architect

The Senior Integration Architect will serve as the enterprise authority for middleware and integration architecture, driving standards, governance, and delivery excellence across MuleSoft, cloud, and related technologies. This role is accountable for defining integration patterns, ensuring compliance with security policies, and guiding teams and vendors to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Enterprise Architecture Leadership
• Define and govern middleware/integration architecture, platform selection, and environment strategy.
• Establish API standards and design guidelines (REST/SOAP) covering versioning, security, error handling, and lifecycle management.
• Serve as the accountable owner for the integrations workstream, advising application teams and ensuring adherence to approved patterns.
• Governance & Standards
• Define governance for enterprise service/API registry, including ownership, documentation, and lifecycle controls.
• Maintain enterprise integration standards (naming conventions, error handling, security models, data formats).
• Submit designs to Technical Architecture Group Boards (TAGs) for approval.
• Delivery Oversight & Collaboration
• Review integration designs and implementation artifacts for compliance with standards.
• Provide delivery oversight, including detailed code reviews.
• Liaise with end users, developers, architects, administrators, and vendors to ensure successful integration and operations.
• Direct vendor-delivered integration work, ensuring adherence to standards and delivery expectations.
• Innovation & Continuous Improvement
• Investigate new tools, solutions, and techniques for enterprise adoption.
• Define reusable frameworks/components for enterprise-wide leverage.
• Participate in audits, design reviews, and recommend improvements with accountability for remediation.
• Risk & Issue Management
• Serve as primary escalation point for integration issues, including diagnosis and remediation.
• Perform risk assessments and own mitigation/remediation planning.
• Plan, prioritize, and manage integration work assignments to meet timelines.
• Mentorship & Leadership
• Mentor integration engineers and vendors on approved patterns and best practices.
• Consult with business leadership to align architecture with strategy and translate objectives into executable roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Technical Expertise
• Extensive experience designing enterprise integrations with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, Runtime Fabric (RTF), and API-led connectivity.
• Experience with multiple integration platforms (MuleSoft, Informatica, AWS services).
• Strong understanding of Java-based runtimes, messaging frameworks, ESBs.
• AWS experience: API Gateway, Lambda, WAF.
• XML/JSON schema expertise.
• Integration security knowledge: TLS, OAuth 2.0, JWT, certificate management, secure API exposure.
• Azure OAuth & JWT experience.
• Familiarity with dev tools: SVN, Git, SOAPUI, Postman.
• CI/CD pipeline development experience.

• Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.
• 5-7+ years as Enterprise/Integration Architect.
• 8-10+ years of IT experience with relevant tools and technologies.
• Proven ability to lead architecture across multiple teams/vendors without direct authority.

• Soft Skills
• Strong design, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication.
• MuleSoft Architect or integration-related certifications preferred (or equivalent real-world experience).
