DescriptionGPI is seeking a full-time Network Engineer to support and report to the Nassau County Traffic Management Center (TMC) in Westbury, NY. The TMC is a 24/7 operations center that controls more than 1,000 traffic signals and monitors over 125 traffic cameras across the County. In this role, the Network Engineer will serve as the primary technical lead for the County's traffic communications network and the field Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices it relies on, including traffic signals, CCTV cameras, and communications equipment. You will ensure the reliable and secure operation of all networked systems that enable real-time traffic management. You will work on site at the TMC, collaborating with County staff, our Project Manager, and a Deputy Network Engineer to monitor, maintain, and enhance a complex IP network that supports signal control, CCTV, and related systems.

Minimum Qualifications:- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology
- Current Cisco CCNA
- Experience installing and configuring Cisco Catalyst switches
- Experience with Cisco ASA Firewall configuration
- Experience with network troubleshooting
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, SNMP, multicast video
- Knowledge of LAN / WAN routing & security protocols
Preferred Qualifications:- Current CCNP Enterprise
- Experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
- ]Knowledge of Siemans TACTICS signal control software
- Knowledge of Teleste Video Management software
- Experience managing SQL databases
Responsibilities:- Work performed shall include the daily monitoring of the Traffic Communications Network
- Assignment of IP addresses and VLANs
- Inventory of network assets
- Configuration, operation and upgrade of network assets
- Network Security
- Integration of new network assets
- Problem Troubleshooting office equipment and field equipment
Schedule:This position is full-time, Monday through Friday (excluding observed holidays), with a flexible schedule to support TMC operating hours. The Network Engineer will be assigned to rotating shifts, typically 7:00 AM-4:00 PM and 10:00 AM-7:00 PM, each including a 1-hour unpaid lunch break, as determined by Nassau County and project needs. Candidates must be willing and able to work either shift as scheduled.
Requirements- Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
- Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
- Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
- Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
