Senior Data Engineer (Face to Face Interview)

Job Title: - Senior Data Engineer

Location: - Spring Texas (On-Site)

Job Type: - Long Term Contract

Interview: - 1^st Round – 30 Mins and 2nd Round will be F2F Interview

Must be local and ready for onsite interview

Rate: $70 on W2

Why is the position open?

·        This role is for a backfill. Previous contractor was in the role for 3 years.

What is Scott and Adam looking for?

·        This is NOT a traditional “tool-based” data engineer.

·        A Data Engineer who came from a Software Engineering background

·        Someone battle-tested in enterprise environments

o   Software Engineering Foundation

o   Strong understanding of:

o   SOLID principles

·        Experience in:

·        Python proficiency (real engineering use cases, not scripting only)

·        Data Engineering Skills

·        Extensive experience building ELT pipelines

·        Experience loading data source ? target DB at scale

Strong knowledge of:

·        Partitioning strategies

·        Incremental loading

·        CDC (Change Data Capture)

·        Idempotency

·        Performance tuning & cost awareness

·        Familiar with Medallion Architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold)

·        Cloud & Platform Stack (Very Important)

·        AWS

·        S3 (semi/unstructured data)

·        Iceberg

·        Snowflake

·        Structured environment

·        Strong SQL skills required:

·        INSERT / UPDATE / DELETE / MERGE

·        Partition management

·        Current environment includes:

·        Airflow (Astronomer – on-prem today)

·        dbt

·        SQL Server

·        Dremio

·        Major cloud migration planned for 2026–2027

Data Analyst / Validation Expectations

·        Candidate must be able to:

·        Independently validate & reconcile data

·        Write complex SQL without assistance

·        Catch and fix data issues before business escalation

·        Data feeds executive dashboards

·        CEO reviews data daily at 8am

·        Accuracy is critical
 

Nice-to-Haves / Differentiators

·        Midstream oil & gas experience (big plus)

·        Upstream / Midstream / Downstream

·        Supply chain / logistics experience

·        Chemical engineering background

·        GitHub or personal projects (must be non-proprietary)

·        Knowledge of machine learning concepts

·        Not a ML role
