Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Architect with deep expertise in data modeling, data design, BigQuery, and enterprise data management. This role will architect scalable data platforms, build high-quality data structures, and ensure strong governance across cloud-based data ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Modeling

  • Lead the design and development of enterprise data models, canonical models, conceptual/logical/physical data designs.

  • Build and optimize BigQuery tables, schemas, partitions, clustering, and performance tuning.

  • Architect scalable data pipelines and storage solutions across cloud platforms.

  • Implement data standards, modeling best practices, and architecture principles.

Advanced SQL / NoSQL Expertise

  • Hands-on experience writing complex, high-performance SQL (joins, window functions, analytic functions).

  • Expertise in BigQuery SQL including performance optimization, ELT/ETL query design, and data transformations.

  • Experience with NoSQL technologies (MongoDB / DynamoDB / Cassandra or similar).

Data Governance & Management

  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality, metadata, MDM, lineage, and compliance.

  • Define data standards, naming conventions, retention frameworks, and governance guidelines.

  • Collaborate with security teams on data privacy, access control, and regulatory compliance.

Data Engineering Skills

  • Work closely with data engineers to design and implement pipelines in BigQuery / Google Cloud Platform.

  • Build reusable frameworks and automated data ingestion / processing solutions.

  • Support CI/CD for data assets, versioning, and testing.

  • Ensure scalable and reliable data architecture for analytics, reporting, and ML use cases.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with business, analytics, engineering, and cloud teams to translate requirements into architectural solutions.

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical leadership to engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or related fields.

  • Deep knowledge of data modeling (3NF, star/snowflake schemas, canonical models).

  • Strong hands-on experience with BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouse platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, Synapse).

  • Expert-level skills in Advanced SQL, BigQuery SQL, and NoSQL systems.

  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, data security, and metadata management.

  • Proven experience with data engineering tools, ETL/ELT frameworks, and orchestration pipelines.

  • Experience with enterprise cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable).

Preferred Skills

  • Google Cloud Platform Professional Data Engineer certification.

  • Experience with dbt, Airflow, Kafka, or similar tools.

  • Knowledge of ML feature store design is a plus.
