Job Description
This position is responsible for designing, automating, and maintaining cloud configuration, release, and infrastructure management processes across AWS environments. The role ensures highly available, secure, compliant, and well-governed cloud platforms through effective automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), patch management, backup strategies, and certificate governance.
The Senior Software Configuration / Release Engineer will work closely with DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure teams to support stable, reliable enterprise services.
Responsibilities
Cloud Configuration & Infrastructure Automation
- Develop, implement, and maintain configuration management processes, policies, and standards for AWS environments
- Build, deploy, and enhance Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of AWS resources (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, ACM)
- Manage and optimize multiple environments (Dev, Test, Stage, Prod) to ensure configuration consistency and security
Release Engineering & AWS DevOps
- Support CI/CD and automation pipelines using AWS Code Commit, Code Build, Code Deploy, and Code Pipeline
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to support releases, deployments, rollbacks, configuration updates, and environment readiness
Backup, Patching & Compliance
- Design and maintain automated AWS backup solutions to ensure data integrity, resiliency, and compliance with retention policies
- Implement automated patching workflows for cloud infrastructure
- Conduct periodic audits of environment configuration, patch levels, backup integrity, and certificate compliance; recommend and implement improvements
Security & Certificate Management
- Manage installation, renewal, rotation, and validation of SSL/TLS certificates across AWS services
- Ensure secure communication configurations aligned with security and compliance standards
Documentation, Governance & Training
- Maintain accurate documentation of configuration baselines, IaC standards, module usage, and environment changes
- Provide training and guidance on Terraform, AWS infrastructure best practices, backup strategies, patch automation, and certificate management

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 8 years of configuration management experience, including:
- Proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, ACM)
- Experience with cloud backup solutions and automated patching
- Expertise in SSL/TLS certificate management and security best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for AWS and Terraform automation
- AWS and/or Terraform certifications
- Experience in public sector or regulated environments
- Vendor oversight or management experience
- Familiarity with Agile or project management tools
- Experience with organizational change management (OCM)
