About the Role The Cloud Infrastructure Environmental Compliance team ensures environmental permit compliance during the construction of data centers. As an Environmental Compliance Manager, you will oversee environmental compliance from pre-construction through turnover to operations. You will manage consultants, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permit requirements.
Top 3 Must-Have Hard SkillsEnvironmental Permitting & Compliance - Experience managing environmental impact assessments, acquiring permits, and conducting cultural and ecological surveys and approvals in the U.S.
Program & Project Management - Skilled in permit timeline development, cross-disciplinary coordination, contracting and leading consultant teams, and driving deliverables to meet business objectives.
Mission-Critical or Large-Scale Construction Experience- Familiarity with environmental compliance for complex construction projects or mission-critical facilities.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Civil/Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Day to Day Responsibilities: - Implement and monitor environmental permit compliance during construction phases.
- Coordinate with permit managers and construction teams to ensure adherence to environmental requirements.
- Manage environmental consultants performing site inspections, reporting, and agency interactions.
- Identify and mitigate compliance risks related to stormwater, wetlands, endangered species, cultural resources, air quality, and more.
- Support regulatory agency engagement and community outreach for new builds.
- Develop compliance strategies and risk mitigations to enable timely data center delivery.
- Communicate environmental requirements to diverse stakeholders and maintain accurate project status reporting.
Required Experience :In order to be successful, candidate must have a strong background in environmental permitting and compliance, be able to work in a dynamic and global organization and have a strong desire to continually learn and innovate.
In particular, Expected to:
1. Have a strong background in project management and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to drive desired outcomes.
2. Have specific knowledge of environmental permitting programs and requirements including, but not limited to air quality, threatened and endangered species, CWA 404/401 permitting, stormwater construction general permits, SPCC, RCRA, etc.
3. Have a working knowledge of remedial investigations, remediation strategies and execution, site conceptual models and site management plans.
4. Have ability to follow construction schedules, and identify compliance risks and mitigation
5. Work well within a fast-paced organization who is a self-starter, process-minded, and collaborative.
