Job DetailsWe are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead our data ingestion and transformation initiatives. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring data quality, lineage, and governance, and in developing scalable, reliable systems that empower decision-making across the organization. As we continue to scale, this position offers significant opportunity for personal and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with analysts to design and implement scalable data systems integrating multiple sources (databases, event streams, marketing platforms, etc.)
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to establish new data pipelines within production environments
- Drive company-wide alignment by standardizing metrics and data definitions
- Promote and implement dimensional data modeling best practices across teams
- Manage the complete data lifecycle-from ingestion to consumption
- Connect business units to centralized, secure, and transparent data infrastructure
- Build tools and frameworks that enhance visibility into company-wide performance metrics
- Define, document, and promote data engineering best practices
- Design scalable, cloud-based data solutions (preferably AWS)
- Establish data quality, lineage, and security frameworks to monitor enterprise-wide data health
- Solve complex data challenges with analytical rigor and innovation in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications & Experience
- 4+ years of progressive professional experience in data engineering or related roles
- Advanced SQL skills (including statistical/window functions and complex data types)
- Expertise in relational and dimensional data modeling
- Proficiency with at least two database engines (MySQL, Snowflake, PostgreSQL preferred)
- Strong understanding of metadata-driven and database-centric architectures
- Experience with ETL/ELT frameworks and tools such as Airflow, Prefect, DBT, Airbyte, or Fivetran
- Experience with data ingestion technologies (Kafka, DMS, Singer)
- Skilled in at least one programming language (Python preferred)
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux scripting (bash) and API interaction (curl)
- Familiarity with parallelized data processing and DAGs
- Experience building within cloud environments, particularly AWS (S3, Parquet, ORC, external tables, JSON handling)
- Working knowledge of BI/visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, or Sisense)
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline
Bonus Points For
- Experience with real-time ETL (Kafka Streams, AWS Kinesis)
- Familiarity with DevOps tools (Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker)
- Understanding of enterprise architecture and dimensional modeling
- Experience in Agile (Scrum or Kanban) environments focusing on iterative sprint deliveries
