Network Engineer III (DOCSIS / PON / iCMTS)Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid - 4 days onsite per week)
A leading telecommunications company in Denver is seeking a
Network Engineer III to join a highly visible lab and engineering team focused on resolving and preventing complex field issues that directly impact customer experience and revenue. This role is ideal for an intermediate-level network engineer with strong hands-on experience in
DOCSIS, iCMTS, and PON technologies who enjoys deep technical problem-solving in a lab environment.
What You'll Do- Serve as a technical escalation point for complex field and operations issues impacting production networks
- Reproduce real-world field issues in a lab environment to identify root cause and validate solutions
- Work closely with vendors, operations, and internal engineering teams to troubleshoot, test, and resolve network problems
- Intentionally "break" and stress network equipment in controlled environments to understand failure modes and share findings with leadership
- Design, document, and assess network architectures for performance, scalability, and capacity
- Evaluate existing network technologies to identify gaps and provide optimization recommendations
- Program, configure, and test routers, switches, and security devices
- Support the implementation and tuning of data and voice communication technologies
- Establish and validate network security, connectivity, and access parameters
- Document learned behaviors, solutions, and best practices to prevent future field issues
Required Technical Skills & Experience- 2-3+ years of hands-on DOCSIS experience
- Experience working with iCMTS platforms (Harmonic or CommScope preferred)
- Strong understanding of EPON / PON technologies, including OLTs (Addran experience is a plus)
- Hands-on experience with Harmonic platforms
- Solid knowledge of routing and switching concepts and platforms
- Experience troubleshooting enterprise or carrier-grade networks in a lab or production environment
- Background working for a large telecommunications company or network service provider
Nice-to-Have Skills- Experience with RPHY architectures
- Exposure to capacity planning and performance assessments
- Familiarity with security devices and tuning network security systems

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
