Job Title: AWS Cloud Engineer
Location: Hybrid – Minneapolis, MN
Duration: 12-month contract with strong possibility of extension
Interview Mode: Video Interview
Position summary:
An AWS Cloud Engineer in Minneapolis designs, builds, and maintains cloud-based infrastructure and services for applications — ensuring security, scalability, and reliability. The role involves collaborating with development and operations teams to deploy, manage, and optimize AWS environments, often using infrastructure-as-code and automation.
Key Responsibilities
· Design, provision, and govern cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS) — compute, networking, storage, identity/access management (IAM), etc.
· Use infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation) to automate provisioning and configuration.
· Build and maintain cloud-native services — e.g. utilization of serverless (Lambdas, etc.), containers (Docker / Kubernetes / EKS), storage (S3, databases), and networking/VPC configurations.
· Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize AWS environments: handle incidents, ensure backups, and maintain logging/monitoring, address performance/security issues.
· Interact with security/compliance teams to ensure infrastructure meets relevant security or compliance standards (e.g. IAM best-practices, audits).
· Collaborate with developers, QA, and other stakeholders for migration, deployment, and maintenance of applications to/from cloud.
· Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, environment configuration specs, and operational run books.
Required Skills & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / IT / or related field (or equivalent experience)
· 9–12+ years’ experience in cloud computing and AWS environments.
· Hands-on experience with core AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS/databases or other storage, etc.).
· Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and scripting/automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell or equivalent).
· Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS) and DevOps methodologies.
· Knowledge of networking, security, and compliance best-practices (IAM, security groups, network configuration, logging/monitoring).
· Good communication and collaboration skills — ability to work with cross-functional teams, and possibly clients/vendors, especially for managed/cloud-migration projects.
· Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect / AWS Certified Developer / AWS Certified SysOps, or equivalent cloud certifications.
· Experience working in regulated or compliance-heavy environments (e.g. finance, healthcare) if relevant.
· Prior exposure to hybrid cloud (AWS + on-prem or multicloud) or additional cloud platforms (e.g. Azure).
