Position Title: Systems Administrator III (Managed File Transfer)
Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)

Position Description:
We are seeking a senior-level Systems Administrator with strong expertise in Managed File Transfer (MFT) platforms to support and enhance enterprise-grade file transfer services in a highly regulated, mission-critical environment. This role focuses on the installation, configuration, security, monitoring, and optimization of complex file transfer systems across Unix/Linux, AIX, and Windows platforms.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned technical professional who thrives in structured environments, enjoys solving complex system challenges, and can contribute to architecture, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role includes on-call support responsibilities and close collaboration with cross-functional technical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain enterprise Managed File Transfer systems, ensuring high availability and security.
Support and administer platforms such as IBM Connect:Direct, IBM Sterling File Gateway, Sterling Secure Proxy, Sterling Control Center, IBM SEAS, and Axway Secure Transport.
Perform advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex file transfer and system integration issues.
Provide production support, including incident, problem, and change management for critical systems.
Design and implement automation solutions using Ansible to streamline upgrades, patching, and configuration management.
Manage digital certificates, encryption, and secure data exchange in accordance with enterprise security standards.
Collaborate on system architecture, capacity planning, and strategic initiatives to improve reliability and performance.
Participate in project implementations, system transitions, and technology upgrades.
Create and maintain technical documentation while adhering to established standards and procedures.
Apply risk management principles in daily operations and decision-making.
Required Skills / Education:
Extensive hands-on experience with Managed File Transfer technologies, including:
IBM Connect:Direct
IBM Sterling File Gateway
IBM Sterling Secure Proxy
IBM Sterling Control Center
IBM SEAS
Axway Secure Transport
Strong experience with system upgrades, patching, and automation in Unix/Linux, AIX, and Windows environments.
Proficiency in Ansible for scripting and automation of system maintenance tasks.
Solid understanding of networking, storage, and operating system fundamentals.
Experience managing SSL/TLS certificates and secure authentication mechanisms.
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
Ability to work independently while following structured processes in regulated environments.
